Guide - How to Beat (Most) Dungeon Puzzles (2024)

In every Dungeon, there are different types of rooms. There's the Fairy room, transition rooms, rooms with minibosses such as the Angry Archaeologist and Lost Adventurers, and puzzle rooms. Today I'll be giving a guide on how to beat all of the puzzles that I know. These are the most common puzzle rooms in Floors 1 and 2. I haven't played that much of Floor 3, so if anyone has tips on how to beat puzzles like the ice rooms and stuff, please feel free to share. Since AHN is currently closed due to dungeons being so close, I won't have any screenshots to help. You'll just have to know what I'm talking about when you see it, sorry.

Teleport Pad Room
This puzzle has 9 walled-off squares. Each square has four teleport pads, except for the middle square, which has the reward. The object of this puzzle is to find the right teleport pad to get into the center square. To solve this puzzle, enter it and only go to the teleport pad diagonally from you. Keep going diagonally until you get to the reward. This might take a minute, but in my experience it's never not worked.

Three-Person Riddle Room
This puzzle has three NPCs, each with a chest. Only one chest has the reward. The NPCs will each tell you something about who is telling the truth/lying, or who has the reward in their chest. The object of this puzzle is to find out which NPC has the reward in their chest. You only get one shot, so make sure you choose wisely. This is essentially a riddle, but there isn't much difference between dungeon runs. Having someone with experience in logic puzzles/riddles will help here.

Creeper Room
This room has a floating creeper on top of a pillar, in the center of the room. The walls have sea lanterns in various places. Shooting two sea lanterns with a bow will make a beam connecting the two. The object of this puzzle is to have as many beams around the creeper as possible, until the creeper blows up and you get the reward. This seems kind of confusing if you don't know what's going on, but once you get it it's pretty self-explanatory. Simply shoot one sea lantern on one side of the room, and one sea lantern on the opposite side. Keep doing this until the creeper blows up. The more beams that are close to the creeper, the more signs the creeper shows that it's about to blow up.
Tic Tac Toe
This one is pretty obvious: tie the bot at tic tac toe. There isn't a way that I know of to actually beat the bot (it starts out with an X in the middle), but you still get the reward for a tie. The first move you want to make is to put an O in one of the corners. The bot will always put itself in a position where it's one move away from winning, so blocking it off from winning after that should get you the tie. Bonus: On the opposite side of the room is a passage leading to a lever. Pull the lever and a secret passage will show up somewhere in the main room. A little bit of exploration to find it, and you'll get a secret chest.
Waterfall Room
This is one of the more complex puzzles, and I wouldn't try this without another person until you get the hang of it. This puzzle has a large wall, which acts as a screen, 6 colored levers, 5 different bags at the bottom, and 5 doors which correspond with the bags leading up to the reward. The object of this puzzle is to make the water fall into the right bags, opening the doors leading up to the reward. When water falls into a bag, the door of the same color will open or close. Going into the room, you'll see that only some of the doors are closed. You only want the water to fall into those bags. If it falls into the wrong bag, more doors will close. Pulling the levers activate certain blocks that block the path of the water, helping you guide the water into the right bag. However, you must be careful; pulling a lever causes some blocks to move forward and others to move back. This might make you unblock the way early on and accidentally block the way later in one lever pull. You can turn the water on and off using a lever behind you. This is useful for planning out where you want the water to go without making any mistakes. My tips for solving this puzzle are to attack the closed doors one at a time, blocking off all of the other paths before turning on the water. I wouldn't try to kill two birds with one stone here. Also, if someone else in your party is doing the puzzle, don't try and push up against the doors until all of the doors have been opened fully. This might end up with you getting stuck on the wrong side of the doors with the chest locked.

Blaze Room (Floor 2+)

This room has blazes with different amounts of health, ranging from about 2000 to about 8000. There is a chest, either on the bottom of a chain or on the top. There's a spiral staircase going up, so that you can get to the blazes. The object of this puzzle is to get the chest to the opposite end of the chain by killing the blazes in the right order. If the chest starts out on the bottom, kill the blazes from lowest HP to highest. If the chest is on the top, kill the blazes from the highest HP to the lowest. This is the only part of dungeons (so far) with blazes. Killing the blazes in the wrong order will permanently fail the puzzle. Make sure that your group knows about this puzzle, so that no one accidentally fails the puzzle.

Feel free to add your own guides to different puzzles.
